12 Strong Movie Review

12 Strong Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig (Exfil, Wrath) Written by Ted Tally (All the Pretty Horses, Silence of the Lambs) Peter Craig (The Town, The Hunger Games) Based on The book (Horse Soldiers) by Doug Stanton. Starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor, BlackHat) Michael Shannon (Shape of Water, Take Shelter) Michael Pena (Ant-Man, Chips) Navid Negahban (Charlie Wilson’s War, Brothers) & Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight, Westworld).  The True Story of the Army's Special Forces "Green Berets", who within weeks responded to the 9-11 attack. Green Berets and AFSOC took over the country and allowed other Special Forces and the rest of the conventional military to begin the more publicly visible war. When I first saw that this was a sherry Bruckheimer production I rolled my eyes because for a while now he has been involved in a lot of bad movies but they didn’t mention he was involved that much and I understood why. This movie however is very brutal when it comes to war movies a...

Den Of Thieves Movie Review

Den of Thieves Written & Directed by Christian Gudegast (A Man Apart, London has Fallen) Screenplay by Paul Scheuring (The Expirement, Halo: Nightfall) Starring Gerard Butler (Geostorm, London Had Fallen) Jordan Bridges (Dawson’s Creek, Mona Lisa Smile) Pablo Schreiber (Bubble Boy, 13 Hours) Evan Jones (8 Mile, The Book of Eli) O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) & Dawn Olivieri (The Wolverine, Bright)  A gritty Los Angeles crime saga which follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles. If you grew up as a kid playing cops and robbers then this is a movie for you. When you hear that Gerard Butler is starting in an action movie that is coming out in January some people laugh. I myself don’t care much for January movies because those are the ...

The Commuter Movie Review

The commuter Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Unknown) Story by Byron Willinger (Backward Fall, Paradise Lost) & Philip De Blasi (Command and Control, Skyscraper) Starring Liam Neesan (Taken, Unknown) Vera Farmiga (Up In the Air, The Departed) Patrick Wilson (Hard Candy, Insidious) & Johnathan Banks (Gremlins, Mudbound).  A businessman is caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home. Ok I am a Liam Neesan fan I loved the first taken I thought it was great I thought he was fantastic in A Monster Calls doing the voice acting but I’m really tired of seeing the same damn thing over and over. These movies at times can be fun for the cheesiness and just being a dumb popcorn film but when it becomes boring these films become unbearable to watch. I was invested in the first 20 minutes of the film and then the film lost me. He’s been on a plane, his daughter got taken, now he’s on a train. I’m guessing a boat cruise is next. The third act of...

When I first saw the trailer for the first paddington I thought it w...

Hostiles Movie Review

Hostiles Written & Directed by Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace, Crazy Heart) Starring Christian Bale (The Fighter, The Flowers of War) Scott Shepherd (Bridge of Spies, Side Effects) Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Pride & Prejudice) Ava Cooper (Black Mass) Stella Cooper (Black Mass) & David Midthunder (Into The West, Longmire).  In 1892, a legendary Army captain reluctantly agrees to escort a Cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory. Scott Cooper and Christian Bale team up again for Hostiles and I’ll start this off by saying this movie felt really really long. Kinda felt like it was 2 movies in one but the character arcs for RosaMund Pike and Christian Bale with where they start and where they end up was really good. This movie is brutal and the ending is something I did not see coming at all. I love Christian Bale in westerns the problem with this film at times is that the facial hair covers up some of the characters mouth to the point where if yo...

Insidious 4: The Last key Movie Review

Insidious 4: The Skeleton Key Directed by Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimensions) Written by Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) Starring Lin Shaye (There’s something about Mary, Insidious) Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) Angus Sampson (Fargo, Mad Max: Fury Road) Kirk Acevedo (The thin Red Line, Dawn of The Planet of The Apes) & Caitlin Gerard (Magic Mike, The Social Network.  Parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet - in her own family home. When the first Insidious Movie came out I was very cautious because I didn’t kno what to expect and when I went to see it I was the only one in the theater so that was an experience in itself. I thought it would be a major disappointment in quality and box office but I was wrong. The movie was so fresh and new and very freighting at times that I fell in love with it. Part 2 was the same new elements that happened in the first were shown in the second...
