“HellFest” Directed by Gregory Plotkin (Black Mass, Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension) Screenplay by Seth M. Sherwood & Blair Butler. Story by William Penick & Christopher Sey. Starring Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing, Arrow) Reign Edwards (Snowfall, MacGyver) Amy Forsyth (Rise, Beautiful Boy) & Tony Todd (CandyMan, The Crow).
A masked serial killer turns a horror themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.
The premise for this film is very intriguing. The thought of this actually happening is very real which is why this concept is pretty much terrifying. So just off the bat this movie is not deep there is no character development. The story is not that great but it’s a wild gore fest with a lot of brutal kill scenes where you can shut your brain off and just enjoy. The setting is cool the mazes are awesome it’s a thrill ride but for most it can get very repetitive going thru mazes throughout the movie.
The direction of the film is pretty good and so is the editing. The movie is just a ride of a group going thru mazes and getting picked off one by one. It’s nothing deep or physiological it’s just a slasher movie with dumb decisions. I can see a prequel to this film happening but it pretty much depends on how this movie does and I don’t think it’s something that will do particularly well although I have been wrong before.
HellFest gets a 5.2/10 from me
