The House With a Clock In It’s Walls Movie Review

“The House with a clock in its walls” directed by Eli Roth (Death Wish, The Green Inferno) written by Eric Kripke ( Timeless, Boogeyman) Starring Jack Black (School of Rock, Jumanji) Cate Blanchett (oceans 8, Thor: Ragnarok) Owen Vaccaro (daddy’s Home, Morhers Day) Kyle MacLachlan (Dune, Inside Out).

Lewis Barnavelt, after losing his parents, is sent to Michigan to live with his uncle Jonathan. He discovers his uncle is a warlock, and enters a world of magic and sorcery. But this power is not limited to good people: Lewis learns of Isaac Izard, an evil wizard who wanted to cause the Apocalypse so that he could see what happened afterwards. To do this, he constructed a magical clock with black magic, as long as it exists it will keep ticking, counting down to doomsday. He died before he could finish the clock, but he hid the clock in his house, where Uncle Jonathan now lives. Now Lewis and Jonathan must find the clock before it's too late, and before Isaac's wife, Selena, gets to it.

I’ll start this off with Eli Roth who is mostly known for his horror movies and what is called torture porn is directing this movie. When I heard he was directing this I had no idea what to make of it and I’ll just say the movie is not bad but I have no idea which demographic this movie is aiming for. This movie is 2 movies in one the first half of the film is geared towards one thing and the second half shifts into something completely different. There are creepy and dark moments and the chemistry with Jack Black and cate Blanchett is great. The kid leading this film does a great job but the CGI in this is absolutely terrible.

The movie is about this boy who goes to visit his uncle who is played by Jack Black after a family tragedy. His uncle is a kind of a wizard with cate Blanchett and there is spells and magic involved. The good thing about this film is the chemistry and that’s all I can say about the good aside from that the time shift in the middle of the film throws the whole concept of kid friendly away. There are some spooky elements in this film and the villain is just bad and makes zero sense. The intentions of what the villain is trying to do is borderline stupid and it makes no sense.

There’s really not a lot to say about this film other than that it’s really a kid movie in the beginning and then shifts into something else not for kids after that. The chemistry is good the leads are good but the story is not fun the CGI is terrible and the villain just doesn’t make sense whatsoever.

The House with a Clock In It’s Walls gets a 6.2/10

Glass Movie Review

“Glass” Written & Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (unbreakable, Split) Starring James McAvoy (X-Men, Split) Bruce Willis (Die Hard, Unbreakable) Sarah Paulson (Carol, 12 Years A Slave) Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) & Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers, Django Unchained).  Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities. Unbreakable to me is an amazing movie and M. Night did have his downs and lost his touch and fan base with follow up releases. I remember sitting in the theater and the first trailer for “the visit” came on and when his name popped up as director the entire audience laughed. I will say however when I saw “the visit” I thought M. Night was getting back in form so when split hit it was truly a great movie especially the tie in at the end with David Dunn letting us know that it was connected to unbreakable. So let’s talk about the closing of the trilogy that is “Glas...

First Man Movie Review

“First Man” directed by Damian Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land) screenplay by Josh Singer (Spotlight, the Post) Based on the book by James R Hansen. Starring Ryan Gosling (La La Land, Crazy Stupid Love) Claire Foy (The Crown, Breathe) Jason Clarke (Planet of the Apes, Mudbound) & Kyle Chandler (Argo, Super 8) A Biopic on the life of the legendary American Astronaut Neil Armstrong from 1961-1969, on his journey to becoming the first human to walk the moon. Exploring the sacrifices and costs on the Nation and Neil himself, during one of the most dangerous missions in the history of space travel. Damian Chazelle is a master when it comes to incorporating story with music and has proved it with La La Land and Whiplash. Here he is again working with Ryan Gosling on a character piece and thinking about it now all of his movies focus solely on character more than anything else. There has been controversy about is this movie patriotic why the flag was not shown planted and all this...
