First Man Movie Review

“First Man” directed by Damian Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land) screenplay by Josh Singer (Spotlight, the Post) Based on the book by James R Hansen. Starring Ryan Gosling (La La Land, Crazy Stupid Love) Claire Foy (The Crown, Breathe) Jason Clarke (Planet of the Apes, Mudbound) & Kyle Chandler (Argo, Super 8)

A Biopic on the life of the legendary American Astronaut Neil Armstrong from 1961-1969, on his journey to becoming the first human to walk the moon. Exploring the sacrifices and costs on the Nation and Neil himself, during one of the most dangerous missions in the history of space travel.

Damian Chazelle is a master when it comes to incorporating story with music and has proved it with La La Land and Whiplash. Here he is again working with Ryan Gosling on a character piece and thinking about it now all of his movies focus solely on character more than anything else. There has been controversy about is this movie patriotic why the flag was not shown planted and all this other stuff and to me that’s coming from people who actually haven’t seen the film yet. People just want a reason to complain. This movie is special. It is a marvel on character study and the focus and dedication of someone who is his sights set on something and won’t budge. 

Damian Chazelle is a master with the camera and the visuals in this film are stunning. Many people will walk into this film and for the first 35-40 minutes think to themselves this isn’t the movie I wanted to see. As the movie goes on man does it tie the ribbon around those first 30-45 minutes and you realize how important they are. The movie focuses on the life of Neil and how everything came about and it’s really coming from his point of view. 

This movie needs to be seen in imax the final shots of this film when they get on the Moon is absolutely breathtaking and worth every single penny. It makes you feel that you are on the moon with him as well. Absolutely incredible work by Damian Chazelle. Claire Foy was really good in this film as well as she is going to be more and more of a household name very soon. I absolutely love this film and for me Damian Chazelle just can’t seem to miss. Definitely a best picture nomination and best director is on the way. 

First Man get a 9.4/10 from me

Glass Movie Review

“Glass” Written & Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (unbreakable, Split) Starring James McAvoy (X-Men, Split) Bruce Willis (Die Hard, Unbreakable) Sarah Paulson (Carol, 12 Years A Slave) Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) & Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers, Django Unchained).  Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities. Unbreakable to me is an amazing movie and M. Night did have his downs and lost his touch and fan base with follow up releases. I remember sitting in the theater and the first trailer for “the visit” came on and when his name popped up as director the entire audience laughed. I will say however when I saw “the visit” I thought M.
