Joker

Joker centers around an origin of the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
When news that this movie was being made I was not for it at all. How many times are we going to tell the same exact story. I’m not one of those people who says this role was perfected never touch it again but how can you do this without it actually connecting to the source material. I was completely wrong as time passed and I kept getting information on the script and the cast was announced.
This movie is a case study on how far someone will be pushed. There is some backlash coming out already and this movie will be very divisive. I’m one to separate the artist from the art or what’s happening in this world and not put it on film or video games. I loved this movie I was very disturbed by it and the fact that it is a slow burn of a man being pushed and pushed until he breaks shows you how a mind can just explode.
It’s hard to want to sympathize with someone who does unspeakable things to people and I mean really vile and disposable things but at the same time you need to question yourself as well when you are part of the reason of someone becoming this way. I think this movie will have a lot of controversy around it and it will probably come from people who love to complain about everything. I think the movie has its issues here and there especially with Todd Phillips trying in certain ways to connect Batman to it (not a spoiler bruce Wayne’s father is in the cast list on IMDb). Other than that I thought the movie was brutal, violent and delicious in so many ways.
The Joker gets a 8.9/10
